Introduction
Within qplayer your viewers are able to view a full transcript of the related video content. This transcript features full time code sync & is also fully searchable for the viewer. This guide will tell you how to quickly use the Qbrick platform to activate transcripts for your videos.
Generating both a transcript & a subtitle
Open any video within the media library & click the application "Speech to text". You will then be prompted to specify the original language of the video as well as any translations that you would like to add. When you're done, click "Generate transcription"
The video will process for a little while, and then you will be presented with a transcribed version of the video. Do a quick verification of the text and once you're satisfied, click "Create subtitle from transcription" to also generate subtitles for the video & to unlock further editing options. Note: Before clicking "Create subtitle..", you can only view & edit the original transcription. Once you move to the next step, you will be able to update all languages.
You are now done with the creation of the both the transcriptions & subtitles for the video. If you wanna make any further adjustments to either language, then just select the language file to the right, highlight the sentence you wanna update, make the change in the text input, click update & then finish by clicking "Save changes".
This will then update both the subtitle & the connected transcript for the selected language at the same time. Note: If you've manually uploaded a subtitle (made outside of Qbrick) that differs from the generated transcription, then the transcription will be overwritten accordingly to the subtitle.
Additional questions:
I forgot to add a language during the setup, how do I add more transcriptions?
Right now, new transcripts can only be added during the first step of the process. If you need to add additional languages then please remove the current set of languages, and go through the setup again. Generating new subtitles at the last step of the setup will only add the selected subtitle, and will not add a transcription.
We are looking to improve this flow by adding some more flexibility for this part later on.
Note: If you've done any editing to the subtitles through speech to text, then make sure to download all updated versions of the ".srt"-files (Click the download icon next to each language) before removing them. Once the new transcripts have been generated, you can then re-upload these files.
I've created my subtitles outside of the Qbrick platform, how do I add transcriptions?
Right now, transcripts can only be added/created within speech to text. This means that you need to generate transcripts for the languages you wanna support before you upload your existing subtitles. If you've already uploaded the subtitles then you need to first remove them in order to get back to the first step of the setup. Then just follow the above guide to create the transcription but instead of moving to the last step, manually upload the .srt files from within the files section of the inspect page.
We are looking at improving the flexibility for this scenario later on.
Note: If you've done any editing to the subtitles through speech to text, then make sure to download all updated versions of the ".srt"-files (Click the download icon next to each language) before removing them. Once the new transcripts have been generated, you can then re-upload these files.
