The main purpose of the Qbrick Video Platform are to manage videos that will be used for either internal, external purposes or other purposes.
Once you have uploaded videos to the Media Library you are able to manage them and in this section we will go through what possibilities are available.
You can inspect and manage files by going to Media Library > Choose and press on a video> and you will find yourself at > Details> General
In the General section of the of the media details you can find various fields and functions, such as Title, Description, Add to catalog or Playlist, Tags and Custom fields, if you have added a "Custom Property" in settings.
Let's walkthrough the settings!
The "Title" is the name of the media in the Qbrick Video Platform. When you upload videos locally or by using the Qbrick application, you most likely will need the change the name of the media title to a more descriptive alternative. Just write the new name in the title field and press Save.
The "Description" field can be used for whatever descriptive purpose of your liking or you can leave it empty. However this field is also relevant, since when searching for media keywords can be filtered from description text.
On QVP you can assign a "Tag" to a media in order to help find it by searching for the keyword. These tags are also visible in the API and can be used in creating tags on a webpage
Embed
Is this section you can manage how the embedded video will appear and which functions that are available for the user that is going to watch the video.
In the player configuration you can find different players that you can use to play videos on your website. The "Qbrick Player" is the default option, that suits well for most of your needs.
There can be however other options available, if we have for instance created custom properties for your unique needs. Our player is highly customisable, so if you require certain special features, then please be in contact with your local Customer Success Manager.
There are also other features available such as "Autostart", "Replay", "Allow Download", ""Social Sharing" and "Mute at start". You can activate or deactivate these functions by clicking on the respective boxes.
Image Manager
The Image Manager can be found in a media under Details > Image Manager. Here you can edit the Thumbnail of your video.
You can see 2 automatically generated thumbnails, but you can also upload image files for the thumbnail or capture a thumbnail from the video.
If you choose to upload a new thumbnail click on Upload files and find the Thumbnail image that you want to use in the video. Once you have uploaded the file you can choose it in the Image Manager.
Another alternative is to capture a thumbnail from the media. Go to video Details > Image Manager > click on "Capture from video". Now you can scroll the video to a time with a suitable frame and press "Capture this frame" and "Add to thumbnails".
Access Restrictions
Every once in a while there is a need to limit the availalbility for a particular video. On the Qbrick Video Platform you can define different access restrictions based on publish time, IP and/or Token. This feature is available in the in the Media Details > Access Restrictions
If you wish to have a publish date for your video you can easily manage it by setting a publish date. The video will be available at the choosen date. The text "The publish date for this video has not been reached (QP-1003)" is displayed if a user tries to watch the video preceding the publish date.
If you wish to do the opposite and limit the availability of the media, then activate "Enable unpublish time" and choose a date and a time to make the video inactive. If a user tries to watch the video after the date, then the following message will be displayed "This media has been unpublished (QP-1002)"
If you would like to define IP restriction and/or restriction by valid token, you should click on "Manage & Create new rule". In the pop-up you navigate to "Create New". There you can fill in a restriction name and whitelist IP ranges and/or define a valid token and click "add". This makes the the player play the media only for the viewers who has valid IP and/or tokens. In the examples below it is shown how you can do it.
You are now able to assign a rule by choosing a suitable restriction of your choice. The choices are activated after you the "Save settings"
